Jackson Moody

1990’s

Jackson Moody was born in Nashville, TN IN 1991, but grew up in Marne-la-Vallée, France. His Father Carlton Moody, is an artist, producer and musician who was called upon by Disney to Produce and put together shows for their theme park opening up in April 1992.

Growing up in a very musical household and family, Jackson had multiple influences including his father as well as his uncles (The Moody Brothers) and his Grandfather and Grandmother who were country and bluegrass artists from North Carolina.

When Jackson was 2 years old, his parents got him a toy guitar and ukulele. He would pretend to play around the house and more than once, his father would take him to work with him at Billy Bob's Country Saloon in Disneyland Paris, where he would perform alongside him on stage.

He fell in love with performing at a very early age and spent most of his childhood in and around the shows at Billy Bob's as well as the Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. Being around these shows, and with the music influences of his family he grew up with bluegrass, folk and most of all, country. He had a rocking horse when he was little and his mother, Margaret still remembers having to put records such as “Strong Enough” by Blackhawk and “A lot about livin’ (and a little ‘bout love)” by Alan Jackson on repeat, while he bounced back and forth on his horse, “Winddancer.”

Every summer during school break, he would spend his time in the US surrdounded by music. In Wisconsin with his grandmother Mary, who was a polka accordian player. As well as in North Caolina with his grandparents Dwight and Kathy who were members of various bluegrass bands; Mac McHale's Old Time Radio Gang, Raymond Fairchild, Freddie Heart, and the WBT Briarhoppers.

At 8 Years old he got his first guitar from his father. He started to practice more, play more and learn various songs to perfrom them, live on stage. When Carlton would play festivals around Europe, Jackson would often accompany him playing rhythm guitar and singing several songs such as “The Weight,” to this day one of his favorites.

2000s

In his early teens he began to write his own songs. His father, also being a songwriter, taught him about co-writing and he learned more about the craft. It is also around this time that he started to develop a love for different genres such as Rock'n'Roll, R&B, as well as Opera. A few of the bands and artists that influenced him during these years were, Eagles, The Band as well as Babyface.

The flying Burrito Brothers also became a big influence in his life, Carlton had joined a group with the late great Tommy Sperlock (Shania Twain), Rick Lonow (Poco), Jeff “Stick” Davis (Amazing Rhythm Aces), Garth Hudson (The Band) and “Sneaky” Pete Kleinow (Flying Burrito Brothers) called Burrito Deluxe. Other members included Michael “Soupe" Granda (Ozark Mountain Daredevils), Richard Bell (Janis Joplin), and Walter Eagan. Jackson would perform at many shows and festivals with them throughout the years in countries such as the US, France, Switzerland and Norway.

He remembers to this day, times spent at his home in Magny–le–Hongre, gathered around the piano with Garth and “Sneaky” talking about music, and life in general. There was nothing better to Jackson than being able to sing “The Weight” or “Wheels” on stage with them. Jackson would later become an official member of the group in 2009 at the age of 17.

It was in his mid to late teens where he really began to hone in on his songwriting, discovering songwriters such as Jim Croce, James Taylor, Gordon Lightfoot and Dan Fogelberg to a name a few.

2010's

After high school, Jackson toured with his father playing festivals around Europe, as well as filling in for various bands at the Billy Bob’s Saloon in Disneyland Paris.

They also made several trips to Africa, performing at the United States Embassies in Zambia, Botswana, Gabon and São Tomé for their 4th of July events, making appearances in schools and local community centers presenting a “History of American Music” program.

In 2013 Jackson made the move to Nashville, TN to pursue his career in music. He started by focusing on writing, teaming up with different co-writers he would meet, performing at writer rounds around town and occasionally getting work playing bass, guitar and mandolin on sessions. One of his favorite spots to record to this day is Omni Sound Studios on Music Row.

After a few years of getting his feet wet in Music City, he released his first album “The Road” in 2015. It was recorded at RicHavoc studios in Madison, TN and Electric Piggy in Nashville. Thanks to his following in Europe he was able to play a few festivals with this album in hand.

In 2016 he would join the band “Brother Virginia” playing bass and singing BGV’s. They performed around the southeast including at CRS Nashville in 2017. They would go on to release an EP and through it, with the lead singer and guitar player, Steve Virgina, they would later team up with JessLee.

Between 2018-2019 he started playing with Matt Poling and Shelby Lee Lowe, opening up for acts such as Darryl Worley and Sawyer Brown.

2020's

In 2021 he joined Kalie Shorr and Sam Varga, respectively, as their bass player and BGV’s. After playing several shows with Kalie Shorr, they hit the road in November 2021 as one of the supporting acts for All Time Low on the final leg of their 2021 tour in Canada as well as the west coast of the USA.

In 2023, Jackson started playing bass and acoustic guitar, while also singing harmonies with Tim Montana. During the spring and summer they were opening for Chris Jansen around the country.

Later that year, Tim Montana released his first Rock single « Devil You Know » that climbed the charts, and in 2024, the band fully switched to the Rock scene, opening for the likes of Staind, Bush and Seether, to name just a few.

They are getting ready for their direct support of Myles Kennedy on his « The Art Of Letting Go » tour in January and February of 2025.

In the meantime Jackson has been keeping busy when not on the road, playing shows with multiple groups up and down Broadway, in Nashville , TN
